Alter, was ist das nur für ein übermenschliches Album, das mir da untergekommen ist.
Nach dem ersten Hören würde ich sagen:

Ich weiß nicht, wann ich zuletzt auf Anhieb so fasziniert von der Perfektion eines Albums war wie bei diesem, vermutlich bei Platz 3 damals. Und das, man halte sich fest, ohne wirkliche Ballade. "We did it when we were young", der Song, dem ich die Entdeckung zu verdanken habe - oh OTH - ist ja fast noch der schwächste. Wow.

@ House: "American Slang" ist echt ein starkes Album, ohne Frage. Generell ist TGA eine empfehlenswerte Band. Hör dir bei Gelegenheit auch das neue Album "Handwritten" mal an.

The Gaslight Anthem - Great Expectations
(Vorrangig @Dan): Ich hab mittlerweile mal über "American Slang" hinaus auch "Handwritten" und "The 59 Sound" gewissenhaft gehört und finde, dass "Handwritten" gegenüber den anderen beiden deutlich abfällt. Es ist immer noch fast durchgängig unterhaltsam anzuhören. Doch für ist bis auf den Opener wirklich kaum ein Glanzstück dabei, wie sie auf den zwei übrigen Alben geradezu die Regel sind. Aus "The 59 Sound" sticht aus meiner Sicht "Here's looking at you, kid" sogar noch heraus - was etwas heißt, da es echt in seiner Gesamtheit ein tolles (Frühlings)Album ist. So oder so bietet es genug Anlass, mich noch tiefer in TGA und womöglich auch Brians Solowerke zu begeben.
